Smooth News Is Back: Your Inside Scoop for The Smooth Jazz Cruises in ’22!
It’s time to talk about the ’22 sailings of The Smooth Jazz Cruise!
SMOOTH NEWS: Your Monthly Cruise Update
It’s time to talk about the ’22 sailings of The Smooth Jazz Cruise! Though hurdles remain, there is enough clarity and optimism about January and February of ’22 to justify excitement and anticipation.
Reviving our monthly Smooth News correspondence seems to be an appropriate starting point. Each month, from now through sailing, we will feature insights about our artists and musicians, updates on cruise programming and guest information, and a special section we’ll call “What Will Be New in ’22!”
We hope you enjoy our monthly, memorable, musical musings! Sharing information about our music and the cruises is always fun. So, without further ado, let’s get started.
The Smooth Jazz Cruise Is Streaming This Weekend!
Have you had an opportunity to view either of our first two streaming concerts? Thousands of people from more than 50 different countries enjoyed Saturday Night with Marcus Miller & Friends featuring George Benson during the October 10 weekend and Saturday Night with Marcus Miller & Friends featuring Gregory Porter during this last weekend.
If you missed those shows, you can still catch them by clicking here and checking out the “Previous Shows On-Demand Now.” That link is also the place to sign up for this weekend’s 90-minute concert event, which should be home cooking for all “smooth jazz” fans. We are not able to put every star of The Smooth Jazz Cruise on our streaming show, but we did pretty well.
On Demand, beginning at 7 p.m. ET on Saturday, October 24, you can catch the “smooth jazz” edition of Saturday Night with Marcus Miller & Friends! Joining host Marcus Miller will be our resident comic Alonzo Bodden, Music Director Eric Marienthal and the Saturday Night Band (Patrice Rushen, Paul Jackson Jr., Alex Bailey, Mike Rocha and Munyungo Jackson). Our Special Guests come directly from The Smooth Jazz Cruise ’22: Back to Sea Sailing! We are honored to present Jonathan Butler, Keiko Matsui, Kirk Whalum and Peter White! We count nearly 70 cruise appearances among those 4 Artists! To further gild the cruise lily, bassist Nate Phillips will be joining the Saturday Night Band this week as well.
We will not be at sea with our “smooth jazz” stars and friends, but that should not stop you from pouring some wine, taking in the show and standing and dancing as if you were in the Celebrity Theater on the ship. Doing so will be good practice for ’22!
Open Booking for 3 Sailings of
The Smooth Jazz Cruise in ’22
Yes, there are three sailings of The Smooth Jazz Cruise in ’22! Pick the week, the lineup and the itinerary that best suits your schedule and taste.
The Smooth Jazz Cruise ’22: Back to Sea Sailing. Talk about anticipation, this cruise was fully subscribed in ’19 and scheduled to sail in March ’20. As our first “smooth jazz” cruise in nearly 2 years, the excitement and anticipation for this cruise will be amazing! The cruise features our largest lineup of Artists ever. Not only will you enjoy the Artists originally scheduled to sail, but several more Artists, including David Sanborn, who joined the lineup just before the cruise was to sail are back onboard as well. The result is more music than ever before and a better than usual selection of staterooms has become available due to the rescheduling for ’22!
The Smooth Jazz Cruise ‘22.1 & ‘22.2. Star power abounds on these cruises in celebration of our 29th and 30th anniversary sailings. In addition to our customary superstar lineup of “smooth jazz” stars, these sailings feature Vanessa Williams and Jeffrey Osborne, each of whom will be sailing with us and primed for special shows. These cruises mark the long awaited return to Aruba and Curacao as well. Both sailings are 90% reserved at this time.
The three sailings are back-to-back-to-back, so, if you wish, you can make a lovely 2-week jazz cruise vacation. Regardless of which cruise you choose, you will enjoy the following:
Enjoy the REVOLUTION. Our first cruises on a Celebrity Cruises ship that has completed the amazing “Revolution” upgrade program! Every stateroom has been completely refurbished. Every venue has been either redone or upgraded.

What Will Be New In ’22
One positive outcome from not sailing in ’21 is that we have time to thoroughly review, dissect and reassemble all aspects of The Smooth Jazz Cruise. Every year, we do this to a certain extent, but with the extra time we have, we are digging deeper than ever before.
We have broken down the cruise experience into several categories. In each instance, we will identify what we are doing currently, what we like, what we do not like and how we intend to improve that aspect of the cruise program. We will share our thoughts with you on a monthly basis and invite your responses. After all, The Smooth Jazz Cruise belongs to you. Here is the schedule we are proposing:
November: What to expect on Celebrity Summit (Revolution)
